If you like photography, whether you are a beginner or someone who has been taking photographs for a while, then you have come to the right place. Our membership ranges from people who are just getting an interest in photography to those who have been doing it for many years.
Our friendly camera club, on the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire border, meets on a weekly basis every Wednesday evening (occasionally Mondays) between the months of September and May. Project Group meets on the last Monday of the month and runs all year.
Meeting Times and Venue: We meet on Wednesday evenings (mostly Wednesday, occasionally Monday - see programme page for dates) at Walford Village Hall, Walford, Herefordshire, HR9 5QS, starting promptly at 7:30pm till approx 9.30 - 10pm, (doors open 7pm). Tea/Coffee and biscuits are supplied during the interval. (For directions and map to Walford Village Hall see 'contact us' page).
How to Join:
New members are always welcome regardless of whether you are a total beginner or more experienced.
Simply come along to one of our Wednesday evenings and spend up to 2 evenings with us free of charge. If you like what you see, and we feel sure you will, you can join.
If you would like to speak to someone about the club go to the 'Contact Us' page for details.
During the summer months when the normal club is not running come to one of our Project Group evenings on the last Monday of the month, (see project group page for details).
Annual Membership for the 2020/21 season is £30.00 (reduced if you join mid season) plus £3 per evening that you attend (which includes tea/coffee and biscuits at the break).
Under 16s Membership £10.00, but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not have to pay membership if they are attending as a non-participating parent/guardian only, but in this case they cannot enter competitions. A £3 per evening charge still applies.
What happens at a typical meeting?
Throughout the season's programme, we have guest speakers covering as many different aspects of photography as possible. Also we hold a number of members' evenings where we all enjoy seeing what various members have got up to throughout the year. (See Programme page for details).
We hold 8 internal competitions, where members who wish to, submit a set number of photographs. On these evenings an outside judge goes through the pictures, and gives constructive comments and awards the winners. Competition evenings are very popular when, whether you have entered or not, all can learn from the judge's informative comments.
We also run a 'Zoom Group' throughout the year for anyone who wishes to attend. The aim of this group is for members to help each other to improve skills and knowledge by setting projects and discussing the results, each member being prepared to help/instruct other members on how they achieved each project. (See Programme page for dates).
When possible, outside events are also organised, such as day trips to some very interesting locations. As you can see it is a very active society and all members have that one thing in common - the love of taking pictures!
