Welcome!
If you like photography, whether you are a beginner or someone who has been taking photographs for a while, then you have come to the right place. Our membership ranges from people who are just starting their interest in photography to those who have been doing it for many years.
Our friendly club, on the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire border, meets on a weekly basis between the months of September and May. Project Group meets on the first Thursday of the month and runs most of the year.
Meeting Times and Venue We meet on Wednesday evenings (mostly Wednesday, occasionally Monday - see programme page for dates) at Walford Village Hall, Walford, Herefordshire, HR9 5QS, starting promptly at 7:30pm until 9.30pm (doors open 7pm). Tea/coffee and biscuits are supplied during the interval. (For directions and map to Walford Village Hall see 'Contact and Directions' page).
How to Join New members are always welcome regardless of whether you are a total beginner or more experienced. Simply come along to one of our Wednesday evenings and spend up to two evenings with us free of charge. If you like what you see, and we feel sure you will, you can join. If you would like to speak to someone about the club, go to the 'Contact Us' page for details.
Membership Fees Annual Membership for our 2024/25 Season is £100 for the full Season. (Reduced if joining mid-Season). This covers entry to all our weekly meetings (which includes refreshments at the break). The Membership Fee can be paid in two instalments, one in September and one in February. The Annual Membership Fee for under 18’s is £25. Members under the age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Accompanying adults do not pay membership, attending as a non-participating parent / guardian.
What happens at a typical meeting? Throughout the season's programme, we have guest speakers covering as many different aspects of photography as possible. Also, we hold a number of members' evenings where we all enjoy seeing what various members have got up to throughout the year. (See the Programme page for details).
We hold internal competitions, where members who wish to, submit a set number of photographs. On these evenings an outside judge goes through the pictures and gives constructive and sometimes challenging comments and awards the winners. Competition evenings are very popular; whether you have entered images or not, everyone can learn from the judges’ comments and placing of winning entries. You can see the winning images of past competitions in the 'Albums' section of the wesbite.
Project Group
We run a 'Project Group', usually on Teams, throughout the year, ususally on the last Thursday of the month, for anyone who wishes to attend. The aim of this group is for members to help each other to improve skills and knowledge by setting projects and discussing the results, each member being prepared to help/instruct other members on how they achieved each project. You can see some of the topics we cover in the 'Albums' section of the website. If you would like the Teams link to join a Project Group evening - just contact us. Other activities
When possible, outside events are also organised, such as day trips to some very interesting locations. As you can see it is a very active society and all members have that one thing in common - the love of taking pictures!
Other information The Club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) through its membership of the Midland Counties Photographic Federation (MCPF).
